Soul Behind This Country Boy (day 1484)

When we walked away –
So much still left to say,
It was the night I fell in love with her,
Which was the night I walked away.

I cannot talk of spoken promises,
I’ve never left my soul behind,
But the man that I am living now,
Is the man I’d always known.

I landed here with postage stamps,
Unmarked, unspent, untagged, unused,
Nowhere yet to send them to,
Nowhere left that’s on my mind.

A loner as a country boy –
The stars my greatest friends,
I dug a hole that wasn’t long enough
But I fit into just fine.

I am lost into another time,
Though a little light still does shine,
To which my heart infatuates
And I am the man I’ve always known.

Earth (day 1483)

With your heart beat –
Thundering through mountains,
Across crevaces,
Through valleys, full cities
And Oceans so far
An eye cannot see
But know, undoubtly,
That horizon lines
Only trick us
To believe your gravity is
Comprehensible –
My heart beats.
With your ebb and my flow
A unity gathers so strongly
That when left unchecked,
A wobbling and teetering
And quivering begins.
Thus, over this floating mass
Of carbon based matter
Quantum does exist,
Qi is your heart,
And my breath like every other breath
Is a slave to your every
Beck and call.

Water (day 1482)

This heart, this heart,
So crisp and clear,
No honesty is left unsaid,
No crevice left unfed.
Hastily moving in torrential exalt
From heavens above
To earth, far below.
And in this journey –
Over cliffs and through ponds,
Your kindness forgets no soul,
No hand left out to dry.
No creature, living nor dead,
Escapes your kind flow,
Effortlessly flowing abundantly
In a perfect example of life.
Symmetry.
And mine toes! They’re freedom!
When dipped in your stead.
No greater feeling alive,
Nor consistently fed
Then your bounty to my bread.

Wind (day 1479)

I was a ghost in a strong, strong wind
Or so I had thought before life did begin.

Let me see through your hardened skin
A beggar forgets there’s lots to win.

I’m tired now, up against this wind
Blow me over, I’ll get back up again.

Float your heart upon a breeze
I cannot smell, I cannot squeeze.

Alight! Heart be nimble, dance within!
For you will feel again, I am the wind.

Blood Napkin (day 1476)

Your passion looks like blood.
I’m innocent, I swear,
In a bar napkin after closing
Kind of way.

Torture my heart, young lover,
With innocent eyes and wishful legs
Standing too close
In a cocktail philosophy.

I haven’t decided yet
What color this heart beats as,
But I’d guess it’s
A shade of lust.

Delicate as Love (day 1474)

Overnight, on a highway:
It’s a crystal castle,
Delicate as love
On a midnight escapade
Down a busy London street.
Thump thump
Is my heart,
My radio telling me without words,
Traffic hazard lights
On a steep incline.
I’m not bad,
I’m just dry as a desert rose,
Hot as an exposed armadillo,
Wandering like two lone buffalo,
Not much to say,
Lonely to the very hooves I stomp,
Dust and hunters hunting.

OK, Lovely (day 1469)

Ok, lovely,
Choose a delicate dance
With sitars, tablas
And magical finger symbols
To gaze upon at request.
Choose a fine hearted view,
Wobbling blue birds
And squabbling hens.
Choose elaborate decor,
Gray walls with fancy lace,
Antlers painted gold,
Desire painted red.
Choose heart,
For nothing else matters.

Midnight Symphony (day 1467)

A symphony of destruction broke into this heart
(a firm grip)
Which wasn’t available to remark
Due to insubstantial evidence;
Lack of memory.
Foreboding like distant clouds of electricity,
A smile lept into a place of fear
Which departed like a slick lover
Amidst heated darkness.
To which the happy couple waltzed on,
Around and around until fire held the lover’s
Freshly waxed mustache and
Used-car-garage-black dancing shoes
(no scuff marks),
Turned fast lindy hop
Which left our heroes glistening
(jacket casually over shoulder)
Upon a midnight jaunt
About the seaside boardwalk
Amidst leftover lovers and fellow romancers
(deeply involved).
