Moon at Midnight – Part XXXXXXIII (day 2037)

(part XXXXXXII)

The first night we stayed up with our fire
Sitting close to each other
Wrapped in our blankets
Willow sang me some songs
Chanting and singing in pikanii
Sometimes I would pick up on the words
Words I knew
And I would join her
And we sang to the little sliver of a moon
That came out and shared itself with us.

We were woken up by our horse
Who came over and started to lick our faces
Quite an interesting way to be woken
But it worked,
And before I knew it
Willow had some warm nettle tea
Ready for us to sip on
As we warmed our bodies
From the evening chills.

I walked over to the cold creek running close
And washed myself
Invigorating my life force at the same time
By the time I got back
Willow had had some roots she had gathered
Which she gave me and said: “Eat this,”
And some meat
We ate silently
I told her I loved her singing last night
She smiled and told me she was asking the gods
For a safe passage on our journey.

By the time I slung the blankets back onto the horse
Willow was ready to go
And we began walking West
Down the spine of the valley
And up the far side,
When we came to the peak
We looked out
And it took both of our breaths away from us.

What we saw was not the great plains Buffalo
But a massive herd of Elk
Grazing and minding their own
Very leisurely
We sat there at the peak
For quite a while
Snacking on leftover meat
From breakfast
Just watching the massive herd
It was pure delight to our eyes.

part XXXXXXIV

Benevolent Symbol (day 1887)

In the passages of my time
I am the benevolent symbol
Laid into seams that easily stretch
From nether regions of
An angry personage
To crispy green crunches
Of fresh Sunrise apples;
Delicate fingertips as I dance merrily
With sunbeams casting minute details
Into consciousness’ unrelenting path.

And if gods were ever here
It was an idle truth,
A crass gesture,
I’ve seen their footprints muddling midday shores
High tide, low tide
Stomping children’s little castles.

Come and get my open arms
My roots are in your hair
My hands are on your hips
My high is for your low
And I am feeling tongue tied.

Recollections and Misunderstandings (day 852)

I’ve heard those thoughts waft around before
Not likely reflecting untampered
Recollections filter absent minded memories
Speaking no evil for I hear no evil

And gods of the dance hall tighten their platinum toe straps
Lifting on the One-Two-Three avenue sidewalk

Until I misunderstand requesting minds
I say to my lovers: “I’m all man, I’m all man.”
Then in Hol-e-wood I’m left cement stiff
I’m left because I’m all that’s left

Dark (day 425)

You will run but you cannot escape my all seeing, all knowing eye
Forget not that I see no boundaries, I will peer through that mask
Directly at the shadowed eyes that burn fists of fire through my soul
I will not let you run with your heels of fire digging into my sin
Resting for only little bits of laughter let loose into the blue nights sky
Late the raven calls upon the unsuspecting pray as it lies in shame
Hidden beneath the oak tree, wasted as if perturbed by an inescapable fate

Gather your storms you mighty Gods
Forgive me not for my ugly sins
Forgive the rain for soiling the earth
Giving it light and day
But not I, the doer of dark

In time the noose shall loosen from around the bitter Apollo’s neck
Released from the havoc that only the underground animals shall ever know
Hidden from the gems that ignite the last memories of a dying man
Crying from the birth that has taken place in time since we last spoke
And pacing restlessly along the cold stone candle lit memories
Trying to rid my withered bones of the transcendental war
Do not forget to close the door as you step inside the chamber of health

Lair (day 401)

I have come from afar to find myself here
Stuck in the middle of a lions lair
I’ve grown mighty weary of the complacent man
Happy to crowd where they can’t get around
But I in my ways have escaped the tirade
Sent all the occult peddling their assault
Off to the gardens to fight with the gods
And I shall reside here, with cup and a pad
To write down my guises, as they spew forth tonight
Perhaps I shall soon then, get a call from afar
That then shall be fine, I shall heed as they call
For the lion that does not roar, is merely a cat

Never Night (day 281)

I punch out the wounds
The passage of time inflicts
It is I, proud and fair
That pushes forth with the scars
The touch of perfection
The outlook of gods
The ransom letter held in private
The blood that sets deep within
Leaving a bastardly sight
A gruesome sight
Towards the long awaited memories
Of tomorrows never night

Dances By Firelight (day 243)

She ruffles the bubbling waters
With the smooth grace she employs
Dipping deeper until mystery engulfs
[How we’ve found our simple delight
In watching our midnight dreams]
Floating around in dancing firelight
Perhaps the gods knew of such thunder
Brought forth for jeweled goddesses
Richly adorned with priceless amour
Carelessly discarded as richly bought
Like the garments holding back love
[Into the night she shall roam]
