Ode to a Beetle (day 2278)

About the log you make your way
From hither unto tither
Zigzagging in ecstasy
Searching endlessly for something more
I see your contemplation gather
Like watching a lover at her joy
I see your fixed determination
Bringing each and every day
Like new sunrise
Like spring in floral
Your motion is forever calming
And as transfixed I remain so
Watching you to and fro
I watch you spread your wings
To find another patch to play.

Ode to a Honey Bee (day 2221)

Your lazy way fills up my mind
With honey bags full and plump
So heavy that your wandering
Feels delightfully like a wobbly jaunt
Hand in hand again.
It reminds me of days spent
Lounging in floral gardens,
Where I, too, did float about
From yellow, pink, and purple too
Into deep recesses of sacred jewels.
You dance in front of my very eyes
Miraculasly grabbing hold of flowers
So delicate looking and forever blooming
Scarcely able to hold your weight,
Now stuffed so full with sweet gold
And off to home you go.

Precious Moments (day 1445)

Precious moments found inside silence,
Inside floating,
Inside crisp envelopes
Opened with a sharp knife,
Wait like a foreign Uncle
Who’s unaware of customs,
Unaware of time changes,
Unaware that foreign currencies
Cost in translation.
Precious moments are our forgiveness
And our floral holiday
Lightly cloaked in a daydream.
Hot sun on the patio
And sirens invisibly floating by,
Followed closely by breeze
Amongst full branches of a willow
And a lost call of a gull,
Precious.

Hipsters Meatloaf (day 1044)

There’s sun here,
Beaming into my leftover sex eyes.
Wet ground pushing through
My grandmothers heirloom blanket
Floral – diamonds for my pleasure,
Tranquil.

A lover’s legs wrap beyond consciousness,
Creasing my hunger
And playing games with children
Learning how to catch Frisbees,
And hipsters bikes
– Bloody impracticable bikes –
Making criss-crossing lines
Across freshly sprouted spring.

I’m drinking a wild blend of red
Eying patrons eying me…
I’m not annoyed with screaming children,
Just wondering how fun their game really is;
How long fun lasts
Before someones mother has had enough,
Started worrying about what types of spices
To leave out of tonight’s meatloaf
Vegetarian meatloaf,
Hipsters meatloaf.

Floral and Gumboots (day 523)

As I lay awake stretching my arms into the night sky above
Tears rolling through the skies that collect in little goblets
Systematically sparkling in the moonlight
Perched upon the damp leaves that grace the soft grass beneath

I remember a fond time of innocence so many years ago now
When I rolled in virgin wool with one desire upon my mind
Not a single breath thought to be wasted in trivial pursuit
Time killed that messenger of fate as the dawn broke

Ripping those angels wings that shared with me deep thoughts
I cried without relent into the sleeves my dear mother had sewn
Passion and ignorance and dancing with the desires of wine
Pulling at the strings like a cheap shadow theater

Perhaps the dreams are the sum of my existence
The push that keeps me reeling at the sound of footsteps
And floral, forever floral with gumboots
Padding softly along with damp kisses on my neck that leave doors open

Summer Nolstalgia (day 40)

Wide awake at home, clouds looming dangerously
Hawks are circling and the crows are pecking
Music is a rolling and my heart is beating
Landscape rises and shrinks into the distance
Lazily cars monotonously roll by characteristically
Ants crawl over, bugs hope amongst my arms and clothes
Sun spits it’s piercing rays through small windows of opportunities

And the smell, oh the smell
The smell reminds me of every summer before
Where stars came out in warmth
Lawn mowers clipped the silence with their destructive menace
Bees buzz lazily through pollinated colours of transfixing floral glory
While the barbeque crankily resists the easy start
But happily searing the meaty part

And everyone smiles
