Early Confessions (day 2377)

I’ve been believing in you too much
Saturday night snakes around
Calling out each stop light blinking
Do you know me? – deep understanding.

Rummaging in my missing backpack
For an unused silver dollar
Where did my pens run to?
I’m not the same you used to be.

Hope here for a river running
Where my deepness cannot outstanding
Floating on my finally lasting
I’m now two pages confessing.

Reasoning (day 2268)

My reason left a black mark upon that open door
It reached up, seared the roof then clambered about the floor
Dragging it’s hefty tail each step along the way.
Lamenting, I cried into the rain splashing about my ankles
Until I made a lonely call that brought back each raven
And there we sat in harmony, speaking to each other free
As my marking upon the door began to float up, on, out the door.

Jamboree (day 2191)

Display my song upon a branch
Next to leaves that swing
I’ve become a drop of sunshine that
Is flowing through each tree.

Be my smile within a bloom
A symphony of beaming joy
I woke here with such helpful hands
Shining through in every way.

Let my movement carry energy
That floats like a gypsy bus
Side to side and turning wide
Jamboree through each squeaky hub.

Ode to Morning Birds (day 2182)

Sitting here with inward thoughts
I’m drawn into a jungle
Roaring all around I hear
So many songs of earth
I hear birds calling each other
From North, South, and the West
I hear distant ducks searching in earnest
And chickens sorting out their rows
I see the poplars shaking morning breeze
And imagine how they’re filled
With little birds so cheerful
Each one calls at intervals
That synchronizes my heart
And fills my morning ritual
With a symphony of song
That asks of me so little in return
And I float away in dream.

Find You Here (day 2180)

I never wanted to catch you here
Between poplars, cedars, Douglas fir
Bending each midday breath
No, I never wanted to find you here
In lush green grass and blooming lilacs.

I had a dream that felt the wind
So here I came to let you in
I never wanted to find you here
Though my ancient roots held me near
My leaves they blew into air
With grasping hands I let you float
Though in my mind I never lost
What you knew now was dandelion
And I never wanted to find you here.

Sunshine (day 1919)

Would you be a heart that will call out?
Shoes so familiar
Like eyes closed into sunshine,
And memories that float into this blank space –
Too happy to change it –
For we’ve started to understand
That tomorrow never comes,
And all we can hold on to
Is the ball clanging around wildly
Inside what we close our eyes to guard against.
This isn’t a memory,
This is pure unabashed and secret dreaming…
A love that screams to come out,
And I’m walking through the madness
With a hope to one day find my way out.
