Rubble (day 2731)

Could it be I’ve lost my way
Deep down inside the tunnel?
Or could it be a mystery
Unfolding in front of me?
Either way, I’m sure to fall
Bruise a bone or two,
Get lost amongst
What I cannot see,
And fight my way still forth:
Amongst the rubble,
Debris, chaos,
Henceforth a state of decay.

Care For Me (day 2729)

Care for me like ivy
As you wrap me up so tight;
With breath of a lifeline
Cluster me with your vine.
I want you to be my density
Like an old growth forest can be,
All the answers
Hidden deep within
Ferns and polypores.
Care for me like a decaying log,
Moss and mycelium,
Delicately tend to my inner workings
Sunlight of my offspring
To rise up high again
Jubilant in blossom.

Speak to me Gratitude (day 2727)

I am gone in the order of gratitude
Baked cookies and a overflowing milkshake
Beans for supper but hold the pudding
I’m watching the stars go around again
But Polaris makes me spin around
This collaboration expanding in an exhaust of pain
For a two letter word in a five tree forest
Begun the path, no return
Running silently I empty each bag
Carried for so long, straps begun worn
And something thus calls me, standing I’m alert
Hollering and hollering, Thusurathar
Name me again, gratitude remains.

I Wrote (day 2726)

Where did you come from?
I wrote letters for years
That remained unanswered
To addresses I didn’t recognize.
Every one of them I’d sign
With my most magnificent signature
I’d spent weeks crafting.
But you remained silent,
And I remained hopeful
And you remained a mystery
That my dreams kept believing in,
Craftfully twisting into
My perfect romantic interest
Until one day, awaiting at my door
Was a letter returned
With a signature I didn’t remember
That had been marked upon a letter
I didn’t remember I wrote.

My Fire (day 2725)

I’m not singing for my lungs
Though they burn with desire,
No, the sweetness has left me hoarse
That burns like whipping dirt
Blowing about this barren desert.

It used to come in fits
Where I’d collapse in imagined euphoria
I had never before experienced.

My dreams lay me still here,
Though I cry out
With the neighbours howling hound,
As singing awaits
Within the embers of my soul
My fire remain unconvinced
That this landscape
Deserves such escape.

Lead the Way (day 2723)

These trees have begun to speak in many languages
To my ears that are listening to silence.
Each time Orion shines, Owl begs for a lover
While my tears dry upon my cheek
– Sap dries upon each tree’s wound,
For no wound is too deep to heal
– Though frost strikes into depths I cannot feel anymore.
Dog enjoys this silence, he hears it all
He hears what I cannot hear
Though my eyes they fight fire with his.
I leave my footsteps alone
And find a new way home, trees lead me there.
This treeline I never made yet live upon every day
Grows against my territory like Winter against Fall,
I have not become used to it
Eagerly entering into the darkened shire
With my heart freely beating against my lips
That keep pace with a dog, yet fearless
And listening to trees lead the way.

The Road (day 2722)

Road has a way of making
Every moment of home a vision
Past remembrances that took away
What innocence I thought I’d had
My rambling price that I never did pay
With the Devil and his soft business
A saddle and a bottle
That keeps dryin’ me up.
There’s a smell I remember
And keep lookin’ round to see
Since she smiled so nicely at me.
What could be better than trying, anyway?
I never looked the way I remember it did
Though I had many good chance
Don’t ask me when I’ll be back.
