Sometimes I forget the beat;
Lost souls that took my heart;
Forgetting to write the due date,
I reset my passwords
And upset my stomach
Into a lunch box at breakfast.
I was at the riverside
Listening to bagpipes roll
Like blood letting drilled into my head,
Little splashes kept overwhelming
The lunch I had planned
And my new shoes now soiled.
It’s not that I lose the time,
I keep that in my head
Like Lou Reed holds a note,
It’s that full time
Seems to expand vertically
Nearly catching all of these stars
With a beat I’ve never heard.
Month: February 2018
To Love Me (day 2456)
Have you really known what it means to love me
Hand in hand with darkness we dance alone
Every little bit my heart has shaded
And I’m here again looking in.
When you slowly crawled into the waves I’ve blind
I turned my eyes with the sun following you down
Lights reflecting this glassy night
I follow the moon I never knew around.
Have you really known what it means to love me
Without softness to caress a breath I never had
Torment daily by a heart that isn’t mine
No words to call you here tonight.
Heart & Eyes (day 2455)
Take my heart and leave my eyes
One hundred leagues away
There is just one ol’ teak tree
I stand beneath today
Leaves yellowing and trunk so white
Amidst the forest so green
Elephant tracks to the great Mekong
Ox grazing back and forth
Scrolls of Dust (day 2454)
When ancient scrolls pass me down
Carry me away again
Lift me to banana leaf
Embrace I hadn’t known
Until the page’s lustre shines
Reminding me to be
A little more an empty seed
That holds no more this dust
Dancing Song (day 2453)
Weave for me two glasses of wine
I’ve sat here long enough to know
Two shakes of it that’s always good
Dance with me a little jig
To the circus show down River Road
To knee high grass, fields afar
Through frosty fire escapes above
That keep this city awake at night
Jamboree, say you’ll marry me
‘Tis right we speak so open free
For when the moon says good day again
We’ll switch to gin and carry on
I like your style, your silver hair
It makes me think of icy air
Get right close so to swing
This dancing song floats us along
Hashmark (day 2452)
A passage of my minds disguise
I float the little waves
And carry on in nature’s ease,
I dare not look too far
For far shall be my last rebirth.
But as sweet whispers carry over
Tender ruffles of my mind
I hold a little longer to
Pencils I’ve had perfectly sharp
That count with each hashmark
Dear boldness I’ve become.
Honey Bee Stay With Me (day 2451)
Little honey bee stay with me
Stay for tea and summer sun
Lingering here in Autumn day
Sweet harvest to where we roam
Toadstools, apples, tomatillos!
Hungry deer may join our cheer
We’ll find blackberry bushes near
A fruit so treasured by all who eat
Stained fingers with every touch!
Fill our bellies till we are silly
Roll around in thigh high grass
To the forest for a midday flurry
A hunt for salal and its fair berry
Garland for every arranged bouquet
That shall join us later as we sup
On lettuce and radish and beets just up
Found over, beyond the trees,
So stay with me, I’ll let you free
Wander over to the cherry, honey bee
I’ll find you just the right sunflower
To sit by, and enjoy delight.
Awake Seed (day 2450)
Who falls awake at night
Who lets the dreams stay away
Who brings the evening deep inside
Furrow brows some more
Who has time to wish away
Pine tree growing on the land
Little death beside a hearth
Rose denied its breath
Let wisdom become silence here
To tired awake at night
Needles upon the forest floor
In a hand, a growing seed
Gray Hairs (day 2449)
I want the gray hairs
Prepared for wrinkles
I want for to smile
And nobody cares
Loving all night long
I’d slowly waltz upon
To old rock and roll songs
Singing along to every line
Heart leaking like gold
As Neil Young’s lonely piano
Became my smiling notes
Of these passionate hairs
Ten Thousand (day 2448)
Born ten thousand years ago
Learned to see the moon
Carry a fire inside my soul
Lord, I’m coming home
Sitting alone in wild unknown
Breath of ten thousand breaths
Watched a leaf fall to earth
Felt it land so soft
Walked the path till I saw all clear
Deep in a medley hole
Called moon my mother’s name
Lord, I’m coming home
